We build AI tools in collaboration with people who have experienced social marginalization, homelessness, or addiction. Together we investigate the critical needs, and test concrete solutions.
Our goal
Responding to a difficult letter can be the key to avoiding eviction from your home. Understanding messages from health authorities can save you life. And expressing yourself in text and speech about life on the edge of society can lead to democratic participation and social change.Generative artificial intelligence holds great potential for those who are excluded. But the tools are not developed for everyone and are not accessible to everyone.Our goal is to clear all obstacles so that the technology benefits those who need it the most.
Case: THE LETTER
It is critical to improve communications with authorities, landlords, healthcare services and municipalities. We are testing how to easily understand and reply to letters that are crucial in addressing immediate challenges like housing eviction.
Case: Democratic Participation
We need to strengthen the democratic voice of marginalized communities. Using generative AI, we are empowering marginalized people in expressing their experiences, such as writing a piece to local newspaper or interviewing peers about social inclusion. The goal is to influence public debates and decisionmaking.
